The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Kitty

Baroque cats in ruffled collars crowd a dissection table, where a wide-eyed fish lies open with its guts spilling out.

Every anatomy lesson needs a body, and Abhijoysarkar claimed the fish early. Their first sketch draped it in something like satin sheets, a tidy cloth laid over the table. Hours passed. Slowly the folds turned wet and tangled until they read as intestines pouring from the belly. Five hours in, the fish was finished and looking deeply unhappy. Later Danielailustra admitted that cloth had them puzzled, and they were glad it had become guts instead.
